We have heard a lot about creativity and innovation in our life.
What this creativity and innovation are all about, and where does it come from?
Do I have to look outside to be creative or inside to innovate in life?
Creativity is to create something out of nothing.
Creativity is a higher realm of thought that flows through our mind when our mind is focused on a particular thing.
If we constantly think a longer period of time, about any particular thing, our mind will start throwing thoughts about that particular thing, and soon the things starts falling in place, and the work creates by itself. This is what Steve jobs called connecting of things.
If we can see our self as an instrument with mind, body, and emotions, we allow the things to flow through us, and as the things flow, we understand the creation happening through us, and then we support more to the things happening around, and not being reluctant or oppose at every step in life.
Before things come to us, we have to be open to life and see where life wants to take us. We can fight and struggle and complain about life, but that lead us nowhere.
Innovation is to create something out of a thing that never created before, and if there is a chance of improvement, as there will always be, creativity takes place.
Creativity and innovation, both happens with a focused mind, on a particular thing of an interest.
A fine example of a discussion between the disciples of Gautama Buddha & Mahavira. When one of the disciples of Mahavira spoke about the experience of Enlightenment to the disciple of Gautama Buddha, that when the person becomes enlightened, all the knowledge & wisdom of life, flows through the mind of the Enlightened being.
To which the disciple of Gautama Buddha responded, that after Enlightenment, a person can have all the wisdom & knowledge of the world, and can know the past, present & future of the things on this earth and above the earth, if he puts his focus and attention to that thing.
The understanding says the answer of the disciple of the Gautama Buddha’s disciple seems more appropriate.
The lesson is to put our focus and attention on the thing of our interest, to create a miracle out of it. Focus is not possible unless we have a heart for that thing.
Creativity flows through few people, and rest of the world just talks about it, so is there anyway, we can enhance the experience of our life, and can create creativity for our self and the world. . . .
Unless we focus our mind on something, we cannot create or produce anything spectacular, and the mind can only focus on the thing, where our heart lies, otherwise we will try to run away from the thing if the work or the job is not of our interest.
Before we talk about creativity or innovation, we have to understand that, without love, this thing are not possible, or cannot become a part of our life, and no real motivation can drive us to push our self through the edge, or to take the risk of life, unless the things happen inside.
Creativity is more about imagination backed by intuition. Intuition is an emotional support for the imagination. If our inner world is satisfied, we are less concerned with our outside world for support. If we focus on the outside world or material things, we create more fear for our self, and out of fear it’s not possible to get the flow of creative thoughts from the mind.
Our heart and mind play an important role for creativity in our life. If we work, to focus our mind and follow our intuition, more often, we can allow the higher level of thoughts to flow through us. Patience is the key to everything. Don’t give up on things too easily, if it doesn’t work in the first attempt. Always give everything even people in our life, fair amount of chance, before we get to the conclusion of things.
Before we think about creativity or higher thoughts, we have to give something to our mind to focus upon, and the mind will only focus on the things, supported by emotions.
In the process of evolution, some people are born with a higher level of thoughts, but this is not it. Everyone has to give their share of contribution to life and have to work hard and devote themselves, to continuously allow the creativity to flow through them.
This doesn’t negate the possibility for others, to be less or more creative in their life, and to be the instrument of service to people with their work. Dedicated practice and sincere commitment to one single thing, can give the person an absolute advantage, to create anything out of his interest.
A creative person always strives to become better than his earlier achievements. They don’t rely on their past success but allow the things to flow through them, to create bigger and better things, for them & the world to experience.
Life is a continuous flow of a river. The one, who get stuck, is unable to create anything out of his life, but the creative mind knows, how to take life situations with a pinch of salt, and to figure out the opportunity, in every day’s task of life.
“In a dark room, a ray of light from the sun can be seen as a hope, or the person can get lost, in the rest of the darkness of the room, & feel despair for the darkness around him.”
“As Alma, the Younger taught his son Helaman, “by small and simple things are great things brought to pass” (Alma 37:6).
It’s not how we see the things, but how we prepare our self to see things. The magic doesn’t happen by itself, but it needs an effort to be created. Either we can find an opportunity in everything, or we can see everything as a setback, in our life. The time we see the best in everything, even a little hope, we inspire our self from within, to take that next step in life, even in the worst possible circumstances of our life, and this is the first step towards creativity.
“When we feel stuck going nowhere, the best thing is to move, towards the next step.”
The mind has been designed in such a way, that as soon as we make a choice in life, either affirmative or negative, all our thoughts tend to flow in that direction. The person has to be smart enough to make more affirmative choices, in his life so that he can direct his mind to produce more affirmative thoughts and actions produce by itself on those affirmative thoughts.
“When we keep our mind & emotions to the other shore, our physical body follows.”
Life may be the most complex thing to be understood, but it’s not an impossible task, and it’s always possible to receive the guidance, from life itself if we make sincere and honest efforts towards the things, we desire from the heart, or towards the life itself.
