The first thing you need to understand about the negative thought pattern is that it’s an internal thing. It’s your subtle world that gets caught up in a certain way that creates negative thought patterns.
Usually, we get into some situation or meet people, that allow us to form negative perception towards life, but when you look deep inside, you realize that it’s not the situation or people that fill you up with negativity. It’s only when your life energy (spirit), mind and physical body gets arranged in a certain way that forms the negative thought patterns inside.
Before you overcome the negative thought patterns of your mind, it’s important to understand the base of the negative thought patterns. One thing needs to be clear in the mind, that negative thought patterns have nothing to do with the outside situation, people or events of your life and it’s an internal thing.
The way there is a time for sleep, the way there is a time when you feel hungry, in a similar way, when your inner world gets arrange in a certain way, negative thought patterns forms inside.
Now let’s see, how your physical and subtle world is inter-connected and what allows you to form negative thought patterns?
When you see yourself in the mirror, what reflects is the physical body. You can also notice the inflow and outflow of breath. You can also experience the sensation in the body from outside. With the inner world, you are familiar with the feelings and emotions of the body along with the thoughts and images of the mind.
Now, the physical body is visible, but the thoughts, feelings, emotions or the way mind imagine things are not visible. If I tell you, you have the subtle body inside, then it’s difficult to understand because you don’t have any experience with it. You can relate to the thoughts and feelings but your mind cannot relate itself with the subtle body, as it doesn’t have any experience with it.
When you sense the feelings or emotions or sense your thoughts and imagination, it seems that everything is happening in the physical body. Thoughts come to the brain and the feelings and emotions come to the heart. You have never taken your attention inward to notice exactly where the thoughts and feelings take place inside, but just with the sensation, you can tell the exact location of thoughts, feelings, and emotions in the body.
When you take your attention inward and figure out the truth behind your thoughts, and feelings, you can realize an absolutely different body, where all your thoughts and feelings take place.
The mind is different from the brain. The physical body is an instrument for the mind, spirit (life energy) and soul. When you take your attention inward, your experience doesn’t remain limited to the thoughts, or images of the mind, but you can also experience the no-mind state.You can also realize the spirit in the body, which is very much active every moment of your life. The experience of spirit is possible beyond the no-mind state.
You also have the source of the spirit and the mind in the body. The mind and the spirit (life energy) can be consciously detached from the physical body in meditation. Meditation is an act to observe oneself. When you learn to simply observe life, your mind begins to get detached from inside.
The physical body is not something that appears to you in the outside mirror, but when you experience the physical body from inside, you notice only a single main nerves system, that allows the functions of the whole physical body. The physical body has a main nerves system that takes care of the whole physical body, including the brain and heart.
The physical body along with the main nerves system is not capable of taking care of itself, and it needs mind and the spirit (life energy) to work through it, to carry out the inner functions of the body.
In reality, the life in the physical body couldn’t exist without the spirit in the body. It’s the spirit and the mind that allows the life possible in the body. Even day to day functions of the physical body is carried out by the spirit. The spirit doesn’t directly engage with the physical body but works with the main nerves of the physical body.
The main nerves of the physical body are connected with the whole body and thus by working with the main nerves of the body, the whole physical body gets nourished.
From outside the only physical body appears, but when you take your attention inward, you realize the source of life. The source is an empty space, in the brain, that vibrates at a higher frequency. From the source comes the spirit and the mind. It’s the spirit and the mind that creates and nourish the physical body.
The spirit is the subtle thread that works with the main nerves of the physical body. The mind is the subtle clothing that covers the whole physical body from inside. The spirit doesn’t directly get in touch with the main nerves of the physical system, but there is a subtle clothing of the mind, that remains in between the spirit and the main nerves of the body.
You experience the sensation in the body but even if you try to understand with the mind you never realize how do you experience the sensation in the body?
The sensation is experienced when the spirit meets the main nerves of the body. All the sensation you experience in the mind.
It’s the sensation that gives rise to ego or personal identity. All the external and internal experiences of life are experienced only with the sensation.
The mind is in the middle, between the spirit and the main nerves of the physical body. The sensation in the body can only be experienced, till the time, the spirit remains in touch with the nerves of the body, but when the spirit gets detached from the body, no sensation is experienced in the body.
When the spirit comes in contact with the main nerves of the body, all the thoughts, imagination, dreams, desires, and experiences and impressions of the mind gets active. All the experiences and impressions of life remain stored on the surface of the mind. Anything familiar you experience either internally or externally in the mind, all the past experiences and impressions of the mind becomes active in the moment.
When the spirit connects with the main nerves of the body, the mind in the middle becomes active and forms thoughts and images in the mind. These thoughts and images are more likely similar to the experiences and impressions of your day to day life.
The spirit works with the main nerves of the physical body to nourish the body. The internal process is such that, when the spirit gets in touch with the main nerves of the body, it simply rolls over to the nerves system, so that the whole physical body can get the nourishment. Meanwhile, the mind in the middle think thoughts and imagine things. Now, when the spirit tightly gets attached to the nerves system and works with the nervous system, in those moments, mind too get squeezed between the spirit and the nerves system. Thus, with the little space for the mind, the inner system, by default produce negative thoughts in the mind.

Until the time, the spirit works with the nerves system, you experience negative thought patterns in the mind, and if you are less aware of the activities of the mind, it becomes easier for you to relate to those thoughts and create suffering out of it.
The nature of the mind is to produce thoughts and imagine things. As soon as the spirit gets in touch with the body the mind produces thoughts, as the experiences and impressions on the surface of the mind become active.
When you develop enough awareness with the inner world and understands the internal process of life, it becomes easier for you to simply observe the thoughts and images of the mind, and allow the functions of the spirit and the body to take place.
The thoughts happen in the mind and when you observe the mind, you observe the mind with the attention of the mind. It’s the mind that observes itself, and with the act of observing oneself, it detaches itself from all the on-going activities of the mind.
It’s only your understanding of the inner process of life that can allow you to rise above the negative thought patterns of the mind. The mind is not the only tool, out of which the process of life takes place, but you have the spirit that works through the body.
The mind and the spirit can be detached from the physical body in deep meditation. Once the mind and spirit get detached from the physical body, the inner process of life becomes clear to you.
The mind doesn’t only create the negative thoughts, but it also forms the positive thought patterns. When the spirit works with the main nerves of the body, it tightens its grip on the nerves system, and in those moments, if you try to think, or act without considering the inner movement of the body, you experience negative thoughts, fear, anxiety, or depression in the moment. But as soon as the work of the spirit gets over, it loses its grip on the nerves system of the body, and once the spirit loses its grip over the nerves system, you experience positive thought patterns in the mind.
To understand the working of the inner world, you need to connect with the inner world. With life, there is a time to work, and there is a time to rest. If you are available at a right place at a wrong time, then you are bound to suffer from life.
You need to understand the inner process of life. Only then you will rise above all the negativity of your life. Life doesn’t offer either happiness or suffering but life simply moves out of its process.
Life itself is not positive or negative, but life as a whole follows its process. If out of ignorance, you disturb the inner process of life, you create suffering for yourself.
