He was thinking all day long. Although the thoughts of freedom captured his mind, but he could never gather the courage to take that steps. Finally, the day has arrived. Everyone was asleep. It was a full moon night. He gathered all his courage and escape the orphanage.

He was walking the street of the town for the first time all alone. He was familiar with the street but he has not experienced the same street with the absolute freedom. He was relishing the scenic beauty on both the ways of the street. For the first time, he has a sigh of relief. By wandering down the street, he came across the side of the river.

He saw people jumping into the boat, and without thinking, he too jumps into the boat. The boat at the full moon night was meant to take the people on the other side of the town. He had no clue what was happening to him, all he did was going with the flow. One thing he was sure of, that nobody will come in search of him, as his life is not mattered to anybody except him.

Soon he found himself on the other side of the town. He was so exhausted by thinking and planning all day long, that he didn’t even realize when his eyes got closed and he was lying on the corner of the street.

The market was crowded and the voices from all corners of the market woke him up. He woke up into the no man’s land. With no idea of what to do next, he stood up and kept walking, staring at different shops of the market.

Soon he came across the food shop. All the different delicacies were visible on the display, and he realized his hunger. He forgot that out of excitement he didn’t have anything since last morning. He pointed his finger to the sweet, to the shopkeeper and the shopkeeper offered him the sweet. As soon as he was done with his hunger, he started walking. The shopkeeper shouted and asked him to stop. The shop keeper asked for money, of which he was not aware of. The shopkeeper yelled at him with some bitter words and warned him to never come back to his shop again.

He kept on walking but very soon realized something. To fill his stomach, he will need money, and for the money, he has to work. He took the full circle of the market, and later came back and stood in front of the same shop. The shopkeeper recognized him and again started shouting at him.

The boy was smart. This time he asked for work. The shopkeeper stared him for some time and then took him inside. The boy told him his side of the story and how he has planned his escape from the orphanage. The shopkeeper feeds him well and asked him to rest and join for work from tomorrow.

The shop keeper was the wealthiest man in the town and had different shops in the town. The boy started working in the shop and was allotted the place to stay with other boys. The boy used to work whole day and night used to

The boy used to work whole day and at night used to stare the Moon, and this way days, months and years have passed, and the boy has turned into a grown up man.

The boy took charge of the shop and was managing it nicely. He has also built his own house. The word freedom for which he has abanded his orphanage was seen near, but still, there is something that was taken over his mind. He was in love. Every day he sees her, but when the time comes to start the conversation, he becomes numb in front of her. One day the shopkeeper noticed his anxiety and tries to become the matchmaker. He asked the girl’s wish, talked to his parents, and made the things simpler for the boy.

This time he was in love. Every day he sees her, but when the time comes to start the conversation, he becomes numb in front of her. One day the shopkeeper noticed his anxiety with the girl and tried to become the matchmaker. He asked the girl’s wish, talked to her parents, and made all the arrangement for the marriage.

The boy was on the cloud nine and had everything that he has asked for, from life. He has his home in the town, shops to manage and beautiful wife, that he loved from the bottom of his heart. Soon the new arrival took place in a family.

The life was smooth, as he has more than he has asked for, from life. The child started growing up. Soon days, and months and years passed, but now as life was moving on, he was started feeling the same emptiness that he felt in the orphanage. Something was missing from his life and he doesn’t know what. While looking outside he had everything that he wanted from life, but inside there was an emptiness that couldn’t be filled with those outside fulfillments.

The life was moving swiftly and it was again the end of the day when he was returning from the shop, and that emptiness was still haunting him the same way. He heard people around the street whispering about the sage. The master was about to visit the town and there were lots of talks around the town about him. Everyone was excited to meet him and solved their personal mysteries of life.

Even the shop keeper was equally excited about meeting the sage. The boy too was puzzled by all the hype but had no clue what this sage was, but now curiosity also rapped him.

The boy, as usual, was moving around the shop, taking care of his boys and handling the counters. The shopkeeper entered the shop and calls the boy. The shopkeeper knew everything about the boy, but never shared his side of story.

The shop keeper was not only the wealthiest man but also the well respected and most intelligent man of the town. Despite all of these, he too had this emptiness in his heart, of which he didn’t know how to get rid of.

The sage came to the town, a few years ago, but at that time, the shopkeeper was busy expanding his shops and didn’t had time to ask this question, but this time he didn’t want to miss the chance. He knew that he will never gather the courage to ask these questions in front of the people of his town and so he wanted the boy to ask the same for him.

For the first time, the boy relates himself with the shop keeper and felt empathy for him. The shopkeeper and the boy were feeling the same in their hearts. They both are the winners but something inside of them, that was bothering them. They had everything they wanted from life, but still, there was an emptiness in their heart, that was haunting them day and night.

It was again a full moon night and the sage took the centre stage. The questions started pouring in from all walks of life and the sage was sharing his wisdom with everyone.

This time, it was boys turn to ask the question and as he was guided by the shopkeeper to ask his share of questions.

The boy asked, “What is Life?”

To which sage replied, “Life is to take care of your primary needs, i.e. food and shelter and do necessary work to fulfill your needs. Life is for the fulfillment of the desires that arose from inside, such as procreation, forming relationships, loving, caring, giving, receiving, sharing and contributing to your full potential to different aspects of life to make it better.”

As the sage was sharing his wisdom, the boy interrupted, and asked than “What is freedom?”

The sage hold himself back took a pause and replied, “The freedom is to look beyond the emptiness of the heart. The way is not outside but inside beyond the emptiness of the heart.”

Tears started falling from the eyes of the shopkeeper and the boy, and they realized the way of life, which doesn’t end with the fulfillment of the needs or desires, but they have to move beyond the emptiness of the heart to realize the absolute truth.
